This program is a one-day event sponsored by the Virginia State Bar’s Conference of Local Bar Associations to train and provide resources to current and prospective local and statewide bar leaders.

Christine Mougin-Boal attends VSB Council Meeting
Christine Mougin-Boal, in her capacity as President of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association, was invited as a guest to attend the February 26, 2011 Virginia State Bar Council Meeting in Richmond, Virginia. Issues reported and/or voted upon by Bar Council included (1) the support of a proposal to allow full-time law school professors to practice in Virginia without having to take the bar exam on the condition that they have been engaged in a full-time active practice in another jurisdiction for five of the past seven years and (2) a report that the Virginia Assembly has adopted new legislation that extends the statute of limitations for prosecuting the unauthorized practice of law to two years from the date of discovery.
In addition, a moment of silence was observed in honor of former Chief Justice Leroy Hassell, Sr. who passed away on February 9, 2011. Justice Hassell was a Justice of the Virginia Supreme Court beginning in 1989 and was Chief Justice of the Court from 2003 to 2011.
Joe Ritenour Recognized as one of Loudoun’s Finest Lawyers
Joe Ritenour recently received recognition as one of Loudoun County’s finest lawyers by placing second in the 2010 Leesburg Today “Best of Loudoun” poll. The voting occurs each year and Joe has been voted first, second or third on 8 separate occasions. In one stretch, Joe’s legal skills garnered him first place honors between 1999 and 2002. The poll is open to all readers of Leesburg Today, and covers many categories of services and businesses. As a native of Leesburg and after almost 35 years of law practice in the area, it is particularly gratifying to Joe that he continues to receive significant positive feedback from the residents of the county.
